The Lost Generation

To the man who finds himself obeying without questioning,

You follow orders and live within the times because you have been convinced that the ideologies that construct the present will serve the future for the better.

Exterminate the vermin!

Why does your heart hang so heavy when you are serving the world righteously? If what they told you is true then shouldn’t you sleep soundly? You have pride and respect for your country. Your position at the crematorium is proof of that. So why do you let your nails grow long and leave your beard unkept? Are you not proud of the service you carry out – the honor that was passed down to you from the leaders of The Third Reich?

Exterminate the vermin!

On the day when the fires no longer burn black, and the smoke pillars to the heavens in white plumes you will be welcomed home a hero. The crusader who carried forth the creed of the final solution; the pioneer who ignored the pleas of his moral compass, which had begged him incessantly to extinguish the fires prematurely. Though your identity will not exist in the history books, except for the lightning insignias you cherished, you will be a father of the future – the greatest age of mankind to come!

Exterminate the vermin!

And what did you sacrifice but the extermination of your own soul, which turned to ash the first night you fed the fires in honor of cruel men?

Exterminate the vermin!

Are you shocked to find out that the vermin is thee?

About Connor Wilkins

Quickly, quickly... take your seat. Our storyteller is about to begin. Shhhh. Listen... His pipes are fluting emotions of myth and fable, but don't be fooled by fantasia for there are truths hidden within his unworldly tellings. We're drifting now... back in time to a world only he remembers.
